On Johnny Beach

For the inaugural Learned Evolution Tumblr blog post, there is no more applicable place to start than with a little ode to our old friend Johnny Beach. Were it not for his support and friendship now 12+ years ago, there is no way LE would exist as it does today.
From Learned Evolution founder, Justin Bolognino: “At 18 years old, I’d never met a figure like Beach, also 18 at the time. Our first night hanging out brought skipped lines at high profile shows, all-access VIP passes to Irving Plaza seeing Crystal Method, and later that night Karl Denson at the Wetlands Preserve. From there, countless nights spent jabbering nonsense, throwing down as hard as possible touring with Phish, and many egg and cheeses at sunrise on top of downtown skyscrapers followed.
It was he who introduced me to Peter Shapiro, the man responsible for bringing me to RESFEST, Green Apple Festival, and most vitally, entrusting me to run the creative and media for Brooklyn Bowl. Despite my antics, Beach saw my true Self, and supported my pursuits, and I can not thank him enough for it. We even named a french bread pizza after him, aptly titled, The Beach.”
Fast forward 12 years, and Beach is still doing his thing, creating new language patterns that resonate throughout the music industry, whether people realize it or not. His latest stroke of absurdist genius is found in the tracking of the meandering life of his beloved stuffed dog, Francisco. Be sure to follow Francisco’s exploits high and low via Twitter and Tumblr.
Donde esta Francisco?
Thanks, Beach. Much love.
